At micro-level, Eco-Build undertakes environmental design, building physics, including detail design, specifications and supervision, covering the following areas amongst others:
- Natural Ventilation / Passive Cooling;
- Thermal Comfort;
- Solar Shading;
- Room Acoustics;
- Day-lighting;
- Sustainable Materials & Technology; and
- Specification of Environmental Building Management Systems.
Selected Environmental Design Projects
- National Assembly Towers (2010): Natural ventilation modeling; atrium design and day lighting design for the proposed National Assembly Towers for Parliamentary Service Commission, in collaboration with Mutiso Menezes International.
- Standard Chartered Headquarters (2010): Natural ventilation modeling; atrium design and day lighting design for the Standard Chartered Headquarters Building, at Musuem Hill Nairobi, in collaboration with Symbion Architects International. Construction Complete.
- Delta Tower (2009 – ): Natural ventilation; solar shading and day lighting design for the Proposed 20 storey Office Block for Delta Resources Ltd in Upper Hill, Nairobi, in collaboration with TMS Consulting Group. Construction almost complete.
- Kenya Institute of Business Training (2008-): Natural ventilation; day lighting; thermal cooling; solar shading and acoustic design for the proposed Kenya Institute of Business Training, Ojijo Road, Parklands, Nairobi for Ministry of Roads and Public Works & Ministry of Trade and Industry, in collaboration with Studio Partners, Architects. Under Construction.
- Swedish Embassy Residence (2008): Environmental noise measurements for the Swedish embassy residence and Diamond Trust Bank site on behalf of Planning Systems Services Ltd. Data was collected for one week and noise insulation recommendations made. Project is complete.
- Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa (2007):
Natural ventilation modeling of the Multipurpose Hall at the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa
- Environmental Noise measurements and evaluation for phase II of the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa. Noise measurements were carried for one week, data analysed and recommendations on noise insulation proposed.
- Acoustic Assessments and correction for the Multipurpose Hall and classrooms at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa. During commissioning, another RT test was done to prove the design.
- Project is complete.
